Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies

Scientific Journal “Economics and Management”, recognises the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, including large language models (LLMs), for scholarly activities and the publication process, while emphasising the necessity of their responsible, transparent, and ethical application. This policy is based on international standards of publication ethics, in particular the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the practices of leading global academic publishers.

Authors may use AI as an auxiliary tool for language editing to improve the style and readability of the manuscript, translation, literature searching, technical analysis, structuring material, data collection and analysis, and creating tables. Authors are obliged to declare the use of AI in the preparation of their manuscript and to ensure verification of the generated content for accuracy, correctness, and the absence of violations of academic integrity. The use of AI for data collection and analysis should be documented in the research methodology section.

At the same time, AI cannot replace the intellectual contribution of the author to the research process or be recognised as an author or co-author. It must not be used to describe the obtained results, prepare conclusions, or provide recommendations. Furthermore, the use of AI to create illustrations is not permitted. Post-processing of lawfully obtained materials (e.g., contrast, brightness, colour balance) is acceptable provided that it does not affect the interpretation of the information presented in the original version. The use of AI for data fabrication, creating fictitious sources, manipulating results, or generating scientific texts without proper authorial control is impermissible.

Responsibility for the content, reliability, and originality of the materials, including results obtained through the use of AI, rests solely with the authors.

Editors and reviewers may use AI only as an auxiliary tool and are obliged to adhere to confidentiality principles, not transmitting articles or their parts to third-party systems. All editorial decisions are made exclusively by humans.

The academic journal supports the responsible use of innovative technologies, provided that the principles of academic integrity, transparency, and academic responsibility are upheld.
