Abstract

The article examines the current state of export-import operations of Ukraine and tendencies of its change over the past 5 years. The research was conducted in the context of the countries of exporters and importers and the main articles of export and import of goods and services. The main tendencies formed as a result of the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union in 2014 and the aggression on the part of the Russian Federation and the introduction of trade sanctions are determined. The obtained research is presented in the form of the grouping of the TOP-10 in the determined directions and illustrated by structural and dynamic charts. The study made it possible to state that the main channels of import and export have been substituting for the European Union and other markets for sale and supply. This, in turn, made it possible to determine the reduction of dependence on Russian markets. Despite the opening of new markets, after the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU, the Russian Federation remains the most important counterpart of Ukraine, and the compensation of lost export potential has not yet been achieved. The revealed general trends give a clear idea of the shifts in the country's trade balance, which will further its development and overcome the crisis. However, the main negative elements of the structure of domestic exports are also established, which reduces Ukraine's competitiveness in the world economic space, in particular its raw material structure. Indicators of coverage of exports of goods and services by major counterparties are determined. Therefore, in view of the identification of the trends, it is necessary to expand the markets for domestic high-tech goods and to further deepen co-operation in the export of services.
