The transformation of strategic management has become a key challenge for modern enterprises operating in a digital and volatile economic environment. Rapid technological development, exponential growth of data, and the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) significantly change the way organizations plan, make decisions, and compete. The effectiveness of traditional strategic management models that were developed for more stable and predictable conditions goes down.
Classical approaches to strategic management, based on long-term planning, competitive positioning, and expert judgment, relied mainly on historical data and periodic analysis. Although these models were effective in earlier stages of economic development, they increasingly fail to ensure adaptability and resilience under conditions of uncertainty and rapid environmental change. Enterprises are forced to reconsider the foundations of strategic management and integrate data-driven and AI-driven mechanisms into strategic processes.
Data-driven and AI-driven development models become important drivers of organizational transformation. Data-driven approaches focus on the systematic use of large volumes of structured and unstructured data to suppor t managerial decisions. AI-driven approaches extend the capabilities through machine learning, predictive analytics, and intelligent algorithms that generate insights, model future scenarios, and support strategic choice.
The purpose of this article is to provide analysis of strategic management transformation in the context of the transition to data-driven and AI-driven development models. The study enriches classical strategic management concepts proposed by I. Ansoff, M. Porter, and H. Mintzberg by incorporating digital transformation, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence, while preserving the central role of managerial judgment.
A key contribution of the study is the identification of core elements of a modern data-driven and AI- driven strategic management model. These include reliable data infrastructure, advanced analytical capabilities, integrated digital platforms, adaptive governance mechanisms, and a data-oriented organizational culture. Digital maturity is a critical prerequisite for effective AI integration at the strategic level.
The challenges are especially high for Ukrainian enterprises operating under conditions of geopolitical instability, disrupted supply chains, labor shortages, and market volatility. Investments in data infrastructure and AI-enabled decision-making create opportunities to enhance strategic resilience and competitiveness.
The transition to data-driven and AI-driven strategic management represents a technological change and a fundamental shift in managerial logic.
